Search YouTube from inside the parent dashboard, preview results, and approve videos directly. Faster than copy-pasting links.
Channel subscriptions with auto-approve
Subscribe to a channel and choose to auto-approve future uploads, or hold them for manual review. Initial subscription back-fills the last 25 videos.
Pending review queue
New uploads from channels in manual mode land in a queue. Bulk-approve or reject. Preview sheet shows thumbnail, title, duration, channel.
Categories per child
Tag videos by category like Stories, Songs or Maths. Each kid sees their library sectioned for easy navigation.
Trim ranges
Set a start and end time per video. Skip intros, outros, or clip a 30-minute video down to the 5-minute song they like.
Per-child library
One parent account, separate libraries per child. Younger sibling sees nursery rhymes, older sees stories. No bleed-over.
Favourites
Kids can mark a video as a favourite from the player. You see what they actually like in reports.
Watch history with progress
Resume where they left off. History per child. Parents see what was watched and for how long.
Lockdown
Two layers of defence. The Watchdog catches escapes in milliseconds; the Usage Stats fallback runs if the OS kills the Watchdog.
Kiosk session
Home, recents, notification shade and quick settings all locked behind a parent PIN. Press Home? Bounces back. Try recents? Bounces back.
KidlyooKioskWatchdog
A background service that listens for foreground-app changes. If the app is not on the approved list, the service bounces back to Kidlyoo within milliseconds.
UsageStats fallback
A foreground service that polls once per second. If the Watchdog is killed, the fallback still bounces escapes. Two layers of defence.
Parent PIN to exit
Kid can't escape the kiosk without the PIN. You set it at setup. Configurable per-child if you want different PINs.
Auto-pin
Optional Android screen-pinning on top of the kiosk session. Belt and braces.
PIN recovery
Forgot the PIN? Recover via device biometric, your account password, or an email reset link.
Permissive PIN strength
We allow easy PINs (0000, 1234) by design. The PIN keeps kids out, not determined adult attackers.
Approved apps
A grid of Android apps your kid can launch from inside Kidlyoo. The watchdog tracks them in those apps too.

Pick which installed Android apps your kid can launch from inside Kidlyoo. The watchdog stays active. When the app closes, your kid is back in Kidlyoo.
Per-device approvals
Each phone holds its own approved-apps list. Why: OEM apps differ across devices. A single cross-device list would show phantom tiles that fail when tapped.
Copy approvals from another device
Installing on a second phone? One-tap "copy from your other device" intersects the source list with locally-installed packages. No phantom apps.
Devices screen
See every device you installed Kidlyoo on. Rename them, revoke ones you no longer use, copy approvals between them.

Three modes per child, configurable per-child.
Three modes per child
Off (no calls), Speed dial (curated contacts), or Full (the device dialler). Pick what fits the age.
Curated contacts
Add contacts with name, number, and optional photo. Mark some as emergency - they show first.
OEM-agnostic full dialler
Full mode uses Android's ACTION_DIAL intent so it always opens the user's default dialler regardless of OEM.
Time controls
The device says "all done", not you.
Daily minute limit
Per-child daily limit. When reached, the kid sees a friendly "all done for today" screen and the kiosk session ends.
Allowed-hours window
Per-child window of allowed hours like 4pm-7pm. Outside that window, the kid sees "come back later".
Optional no-Sundays rule
Some parents want full-day access on weekends, others want zero. Per-child toggle.
Reports
Minutes watched per day per child for the last 30 days, top videos, top categories, favourites. Useful for catching unhealthy patterns.

First-time setup wizard
Walks you through accessibility, usage-stats, battery exemption, optionally Home app, and (on supported OEMs) the "never sleeping" step.
OEM-specific 5th step
On Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo, OnePlus, Realme and Vivo, the wizard detects the manufacturer and shows the right deep-link.
Stuck-parent rescue
If Kidlyoo is your Home app and you press Home three times, Kidlyoo offers a one-tap modal to your launcher chooser. No need to uninstall.
Lockdown summary
Three-state status banner: Setup incomplete (red), Kiosk active (blue), or Locked down with a "Switch to my phone" action (green).
Forgot password recovery
Standard email reset link from the sign-in form.
Multi-device and sync
Edit on one phone, see it on another.
Cloud sync
All curation (videos, approved apps, settings, contacts) syncs to your account. Edit on phone 1, see on phone 2.
Real-time updates
While your kid is in a session on phone 2, you can edit the approved video list on phone 1 and changes apply within seconds.
Offline mode
If the network drops mid-session, Kidlyoo continues with the cached library. Edits queue locally and flush on reconnect.
